Following extensive changes to this house at the foot of the Chiltern Hills near Wendover, an area of the garden was developed for outdoor living. A terrace in sandstone paving, with a circular pool and bespoke garden building, provide the perfect setting for alfresco entertaining.
The recently extended country cottage removed a small patio and created the need for a much larger area for entertaining. This requirement has been met by the construction of a stone terrace with access to the lawn down broad brick and stone steps and various other changes
A waterfall nestled into the natural contours of this garden provides a peaceful area for relaxation and contemplation.
Planting plants of varying heights provides interest and draws your eye towards the waterfall, and into the distance.

Paving accentuated by sympathetic plantings and steps
Brick steps blend with the architecture of the house and lead the eye to an alfresco dining area. Informal planting softens the overall effect, providing a tranquil setting to entertain and relax.
Taking advantage of a sloping site, this tiered design allows access to a more formal seating and dining area adjacent to the lawn as well as a smaller more intimate seating area directly outside the bifold doors into the house.
The split level terraces create useful entertaining areas and now sit comfortably against the long horizontal lines of the building.

This country garden was developed to blend the wonderful brick built cottage into its surroundings; well positioned terraces, firm pathways around the garden and the client’s love of herbaceous plants were all requirements.
Steps up from the entrance path meet an area of brick paving which leads around the house.
